Margaret Marya
Mayer
Margaret Mayer began her career with a
degree in environmental design from the
University of Colorado. She started work at a
package design firm in Atlanta, designing
label artwork for large companies, and later
worked as a graphic designer for a magazine.
In 2001, Maggie began taking a more “fine
art” approach to her work.

“I have experimented with many different
mediums including pastels, watercolor and
collage/mixed media techniques but oils have
become my favorite because they work for
what I'd like to accomplish.

"Some art, music and poetry can move one so
deeply that it points to something beyond our
own understanding, something much greater
than ourselves. This is the power of the Holy
Spirit working through the artist because it
doesn't come from our own abilities. This
presence has a way of speaking to our hearts
and this is how we are moved. When I paint, I
desire the presence of the Holy Spirit
otherwise, to me, what's the point. If a piece
doesn't have Spirit, it will not speak to me or
anyone else.  As I get to know my Lord better
through prayer and adoration, I am
discovering within my own parameters of my
vocation that there must be certain purity and
humility in other areas of life before this
presence can happen.”
